Army warns of intensified operations in residential blocs, calls for evacuation to Al-Mawasi area

The Israeli army on Friday issued evacuation orders for residents of multiple neighborhoods in northern Gaza and warned of “intensified military activity” in the area.

In a statement shared by army spokesperson Avichay Adraee, residents in Beit Lahia and Jabalia were instructed to evacuate immediately toward the Al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza. The announcement listed residential blocs 975, 979, 980, 982, and 983, including the neighborhoods of Al-Karamah and Abd al-Rahman.

Adraee warned that Israeli forces will operate “with force” wherever rockets or weapons are launched toward Israel, adding that "anyone who has not yet left the designated areas must do so immediately to avoid lethal consequences."

A similar evacuation order was issued on Thursday for residential blocs 602, 606, 699, and 713–718 in Jabalia, citing intensified military operations in the area.

Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, killing nearly 59,000 Palestinians so far, most of them women and children.

The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages and a spread of disease.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
