
No immediate tsunami warning has been issued
A 6 magnitude earthquake struck the Pacific island nation of Tonga on Thursday, with no immediate reports of a tsunami warning, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GEOFON) said.
The quake hit the Tonga Islands region at 5.38 pm (0438GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), GEOFON added.
The US Geological Survey recorded the intensity as 5.7, with a depth of 101 km (62.7 miles).
There were no immediate reports of damage to life or infrastructure.
