Chinese president to meet counterpart, with issues on further deepening strategic partnership expected to be on agenda, says Kazakh presidential press service

Chinese President Xi Jinping will conduct an official visit to neighboring Kazakhstan amid the second edition of a regional summit involving Beijing, according to an official statement on Wednesday.

Kazakhstan's presidential press service Akorda on Telegram said Xi will visit the country on June 16-17 at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Xi is planning to hold talks with Tokayev as part of the visit, during which they are expected to address issues on further deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, the statement noted.

It added that the second edition of the Central Asia-China summit will be held on June 17 in the Kazakh capital Astana with the participation of the two heads of state.

The first edition of the summit took place in the Chinese city of Xi'an on May 18-19, 2023.
