Demonstrators demand UK end support for Israel amid rising regional tensions
Protesters gathered in London's Parliament Square on Saturday to denounce Israel's recent airstrikes on Iran and Gaza, demanding an immediate halt to the bombings and urging the UK government to cut military support to Tel Aviv.
Waving Palestinian, Iranian, and Lebanese flags, demonstrators chanted slogans such as "Stop bombing Iran, stop bombing Gaza," "Stop arming Israel," and "Free Palestine."
Placards carried by protesters read "Don't attack Iran," in reference to Friday's Israeli airstrikes that struck Iranian nuclear and missile sites, killing at least 78 people, including senior military officials and scientists, according to Iran's UN envoy.
In retaliation, Iran fired ballistic missiles at several locations inside Israel, resulting in the deaths of at least three people and injuring more than 170, according to media reports.
The demonstration also featured calls for sanctions against Israel.
