Faulty braking systems, emergency call services in trucks pose danger to public safety, says Russian regulation agency
Russia banned Chinese trucks by the brands of Dongfeng, Foton, Faw, and Sitrak due to safety regulations, according to the country’s Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) on Wednesday.
The agency said it reached out to the Chinese firms due to the violation of mandatory requirements because these vehicles were identified to pose danger to the health and safety of drivers, vehicles, and pedestrians alike.
Rosstandart stated that the braking systems and the emergency call devices were found to be faulty.
Additionally, the sale of these trucks has been suspended.
Intensive shipments from Chinese manufacturers to Russia led to the decline of profits for Russian domestic manufacturers.
Russian truck maker Kamaz recently announced it would reduce the number of working days at some of its production plants due to worsening market conditions.
