'If we see danger to our country and to our citizens, we'll be very, very strong in terms of law and order,' president says
US President Donald Trump vowed Sunday to do whatever it takes to put an end to protests in Los Angeles against his immigration policies.
“If we see danger to our country and to our citizens, we'll be very, very strong in terms of law and order,” he told reporters.
He noted that he had deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles and was prepared to send additional units if necessary.
Trump also blamed the Democratic leadership of California and the city of Los Angeles for the unrest that began as a result of raids by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), saying his administration would never allow such events to continue.
The protests in Los Angeles, held in support of undocumented immigrants detained by ICE, are in their third day, prompting strong statements from the Trump administration.
