Deal aims to integrate GE Aerospace's F404 engine into Türkiye's jet trainer Hurjet
Turkish Aerospace Inc (TAI) and GE Aerospace on Wednesday signed an agreement to strengthen the F404 turbofan engines and potential future collaborations for Türkiye's jet trainer Hurjet.
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Istanbul during the IDEF International Defense Industry Fair.
The pact’s aim is to use GE Aerospace F404 turbofan engines in the Hurjet and to develop necessary procurement for integration of the engines.
It also aims to boost cooperation and get support from GE Aerospace as part of flight test activities to be carried out by new prototypes.
In addition to these potential collaborations, the firms decided to take additional steps on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the F404 engine.
This collaboration, which aims to highlight Türkiye's advanced technology capabilities in the defense industry, will enable Hurjet to secure its successes and strengthen its global potential.
The 17th edition of the six-day IDEF started Tuesday.
The event, organized by KFA Fairs with support from Türkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, has Anadolu as its global communications partner.
