Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic moves to Chelsea on a season-long loan deal
Spanish football giants Real Madrid's central midfielder Mateo Kovacic has joined Chelsea on a season-long loan deal on Thursday.
Chelsea announced their new signing Kovacic on the club website.
"I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new teammates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season", Kovacic said.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia welcomed Kovacic as she stated, "We are very happy to welcome Mateo to the Chelsea family. He is a perfect fit for us this season"
The 24-year-old Croatian international previously played for Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb, Italian club Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
In Real Madrid, Kovacic won the UEFA Champions League titles in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In addition, he won the Spanish La Liga title in 2017.
