'Bill Gates asked to come, tonight,' US president-elect posts on Truth Social
US President-elect Donald Trump said Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is asking to visit him at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Friday night.
"Where are you? When are you coming to the 'Center of the Universe,' Mar-a-Lago. Bill Gates asked to come, tonight. We miss you and x! New Year's Eve is going to be AMAZING!!! DJT" Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
He did not provide further details.
Some social media users, however, expressed confusion under the post, saying Trump's message may have been directed towards tech billionaire Elon Musk.
"This was absolutely for Musk. No it wasn't meant to be a DM. Trump made it public for a reason," a user said.
Gates, said to have donated $50 million to Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidential election, congratulated Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.
"America is at its strongest when we use ingenuity and innovation to improve lives here in the U.S. and around the world. I hope we can work together now to build a brighter future for everyone," Gates said on X.
Trump has held a series of meetings with tech leaders at his Florida club Mar-a-Lago in recent weeks, including Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Apple's Tim Cook and founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos.
