Tevhit Akkan, who had two veteran sons after the vicious coup attempt on July 15, fell a martyr in the arms of his sons while resisting the putschists in front of the General Staff building.

Meanwhile standing, Nahit Akkan saw his father Tevhit and brother Emrah lying on the ground, when he turned his back. Nahit and Emrah Akkan took their father to the hospital by car, wounded and under harsh circumstances. The two sons, who had their father recite the kalimat shahadah, lost their father to martyrdom in their arms.
The son of the heavily-wounded martyr, Emrah, who was in the same vehicle, recited the kalimat shahadah and said, “La ilahe illallah.” before he lost his consciousness, and waited for martyrdom. Emrah, who regained consciousness on Tuesday, July 19th, received the news of his father’s martyrdom by saying ‘Thank god.’
Tevhik Akkan’s name was given to an Imam Hatip high school in Isparta.
