Foreign diplomats, journalists and Greek state officials among distinguished guests at gastronomic event
A taste of Türkiye was brought to Greece as the capital city of Athens hosted a gastronomic event Tuesday night as part of international celebrations of Turkish Cuisine Week.
Guests enjoyed a lavish menu of classic dishes from Türkiye's established cuisine at the annual event organized by the Turkish Embassy in Athens.
Speaking at the event, Türkiye's Ambassador to Greece, Cagatay Erciyes, noted that Turkish cuisine is a blend of Ottoman palace cuisine and the country's rich local cuisines.
It's "a delicious harmony of Central Asian, Anatolian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan influence,” he said.
Topping the menu of the dishes that were served following Erciyes' speech were white bean stew, pilaf, green beans in olive oil, stuffed grape leaves, moussaka and baklava, among others.
Foreign diplomats, journalists and Greek state officials were among the 120 distinguished guests.
