No immediate tsunami alert, no reports of casualties, structural damage

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Indonesia's West Papua province on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The earthquake originated 193 kilometers (119.9 miles) west-northwest of Abepura at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

The quake occurred at 0824GMT.

There were no immediate reports of casualties and structural damage. No tsunami alert was issued.

Indonesia, located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” experiences frequent seismic activity.
