Deputy leader of Austria’s right-wing populist Freedom Party (FPÖ) Johann Gudenus in a racist press release called for Turkish expatriates residing in Austria to leave the country following the election victory of Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party.
“Those who voted for Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the Turkish presidential election are clearly in better hands in Turkey than in Austria,” Gudenus said.
The FPÖ vice president evaluated the result as confirmation "that the integration of thousands of Turks in our country has failed miserably."
Over 70 percent of Turkish voters in Germany backed Erdoğan in the presidential race that took place nationwide on Sunday, in which the re-instated Turkish president gained 52.6 percent of the vote.
