
Drones, reportedly launched from Iran, entered Israeli airspace by crossing over Jordan
The Israeli Air Force announced early Wednesday that it intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Dead Sea area in eastern Israel.
According to a statement, the drones were intercepted around 2.30 am local time (2330GMT Tuesday).
The statement did not name the sender but said the drones came from the east.
Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported that the drones were launched from Iran and entered Israeli airspace by crossing over Jordan, reaching near the town of Ein Gedi.
Regional tensions have escalated since Friday, when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
Israeli authorities said at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.
Iran said at least 224 people have been killed and more than 1,000 wounded in the Israeli assault.
