Red Crescent says body transferred to Ramallah after man crossed barrier in Al-Ram

Israeli forces on Monday shot and killed a Palestinian man after he crossed a separation wall in the town of Al-Ram, just north of occupied East Jerusalem, local media said.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa said the victim was a worker who came under fire near the barrier.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its teams received the body from the Al-Dahiya area inside Jerusalem and transferred it to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah.

No further details were immediately available.

Israeli troops have intensified restrictions across the occupied West Bank and often open fire on people approaching the barrier.

Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, at least 1,022 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in the occupied West Bank by Israeli forces and illegal settlers, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Palestinians say Israel’s military campaign in the West Bank is meant to drive them off their land, making a two-state solution impossible.

In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal. It demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
