Strikes targeted homes and tents sheltering displaced families, official Palestinian news agency reports
At least 17 more Palestinians were killed since early Wednesday in Israeli airstrikes that targeted several areas across the Gaza Strip, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported, citing medical sources.
Eleven of them were killed and several others injured when Israeli forces targeted a home in Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, it said.
In Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, a man and his son lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike on their home, while two others perished and several more were wounded when Israeli drones targeted tents sheltering displaced civilians in western Khan Younis, in the southern part of the enclave.
Another person was killed and several others wounded when Israeli warplanes struck a home in Al-Bureij refugee camp, in central Gaza.
The Israeli army has killed nearly 57,600 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages and a spread of disease.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
