Turkish security forces neutralized two PKK terrorists including one of the suspected perpetrators of a 2016 bomb attack near the governor's office and headquarters of the Justice and Development (AK) Party in the eastern Van province.

Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The Turkish Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that Dijvar Gevda codenamed Yilmaz Asan and Ruken Farasin codenamed Nuhari Yacan were "neutralized" during operations on Aug. 22 on the outskirts of Van-Gurpinar.

The ministry said Asan was among the suspected perpetrators of a car bomb attack that wounded more than 50 people.

Meanwhile, Turkish security forces killed seven terrorists in the Ikiyaka Mountains region in Yuksekova district of the southeastern Hakkari province.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
