Numan Kurtulmus holds phone call with chairman of State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin to convey his sympathies
Turkish parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus expressed on Thursday his condolences to Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the Russian State Duma, over of the death of Russian citizens in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane the previous day.
Kurtulmus held a phone call with Volodin to convey his sympathies, and wished strength and comfort to the families of the victims and to the people affected by the tragedy, his office said.
The passenger jet crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, killing 38 people, while 29 survived.
There were five crew members and 62 passengers onboard the plane, including nationals of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
Earlier, the Turkish official also spoke to his counterparts in Kazakhstan, Yerlan Koshanov, and in Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafrova, to express condolences.
