Russian President Vladimir Putin highlights EEU's role in fostering trade, investment and cooperation

The leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) convened in St. Petersburg on Thursday for their 10th meeting, focusing on prospects for economic development.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, opening the session, marked the EEU's 10th anniversary, praising it as a "self-sufficient center of the emerging multipolar world."

The Russian leader highlighted the bloc's role in fostering trade, investment, and cooperation, which enhance economic growth and improve citizens' welfare across member states.

Putin emphasized Russia's commitment to deepening ties within the EEU and proposed discussions on advancing integration and strengthening the union's single market.

He invited the attendees to discuss current activities of the five-member bloc and also outline guidelines for further deepening integration processes and developing the union's single market.

Five post-Soviet states – Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan and Russia – are members of the union formed in 2015.
