Second stage of Archery World Cup moved to Antalya from China's Shangai due to COVID-19 outbreak
Turkey will host the second stage of Archery World Cup in Mediterranean resort city of Antalya in May.
"Shanghai would host this year’s Hyundai Archery World Cup Final rather than a stage due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak," World Archery federation said on its website.
The federation was referring to novel coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China, last December and has now spread to more than 80 countries.
The global death toll is nearing 3,500, with more than 100,000 confirmed cases.
Goktug Ergin, the manager of the national archery team, told Anadolu Agency that handing over the organization to Turkey has shown that Turkey is the best option for such a big event.
The World Archery secretary Tom Dielen said on the federation website that Antalya has proven a reliable and popular stop on the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit and they are grateful to the organizers.
The second stage of the 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup will take place on May 11-17.
