Three of the victims were brothers

Nine people were killed late Monday when unidentified gunmen raided a house in Iraq’s western province of Anbar, an Iraqi military officer said.

The attackers believed to be from Daesh terrorist group stormed the house of a Hashd al-Shaabi fighter in eastern Ramadi, the provincial capital, Major Jamal al-Halbusi told Anadolu Agency.

The assailants who disguised in military uniforms killed nine people, including the fighter and a tribal chief, and injured three others.

“Three of the victims were brothers, including the chief of Abu Mari tribe, who were hosted by the Hashd al-Shaabi fighter,” al-Halbusi added.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Last year, officials in Baghdad declared that Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but dismantled after a three-year war.

However, from time to time, Iraqi officials announce operations against Daesh-affiliated "sleeper cells" in certain parts of the country.
