
Kazakh President Tokayev hosts Italian Premier Meloni for talks to boost cooperation in energy, migration, trade
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni agreed to enhance their strategic partnership during official talks in the Kazakh capital, according to a statement by the presidency.
Following a high-level meeting, members of both delegations signed several bilateral agreements covering areas such as migration, energy, water management and industrial cooperation.
The documents include a readmission agreement between the Kazakh and Italian governments, as well as a joint declaration on collaboration in the field of critical mineral resources and raw materials.
Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna signed separate memoranda of cooperation with Italian engineering company Maire Tecnimont and energy technology firm Ansaldo.
In the financial sector, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan signed a joint declaration with Italy's Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and export credit agency SACE. Samruk-Energy, a major Kazakh power company, also signed a memorandum of understanding with SACE.
In the field of water management, the Kazakh Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Italian association OICE agreed to promote practical solutions by exchanging knowledge and best practices.
Additionally, the national investment promotion company Kazakh Invest signed a memorandum with the Italian Trade Agency to enhance bilateral investment efforts.
