Israeli military spokesperson issues statement ordering Palestinians in Al-Atatra, Jabalia, Shujaiya, Daraj and Zeitoun to leave their homes
The Israeli military ordered Palestinians living in parts of northern Gaza to evacuate westward Thursday as it expands its offensive in a move toward a permanent occupation of the enclave.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted a map on X outlining evacuation zones in the areas of Al-Atatra, Jabalia, Shujaiya, Daraj and Zeitoun.
He said military operations in these areas would intensify and urged residents to leave immediately.
The Israeli military previously announced the start of a ground assault codenamed “Operation Gideon's Chariots” signaling a permanent occupation of Gaza.
According to the army's plan, which aims to expand and solidify its occupation of the Gaza Strip, Palestinians are expected to be displaced to “collection camps” in the southern part of the enclave.
Israeli media reported last week that the army plans to occupy 75% of Gaza within two months.
