Yasin Bahadır Yüce, who was on duty during the July 15th coup attempt, was martyred from a bomb dropped by the putschists, whom he fought bravely until the morning.
32 Year old police officer Yasin, was called to duty on the night of the 15th and went to the Gölbaşı Air Forces Headquarters. His father Hasan, called his daughter-in-law, as soon as he heard the news. His daughter-in-law, who resides in lodgment in Gölbaşı, told him, “Father, they are bombing here. They called Yasin to duty, and I can’t reach him.”
Yasin’s father tried to reach him, but was unsuccessful. His father went to Gölbaşı to pick up his daughter-in-law, and saw that the Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters was burning violently from the bombings. He also noticed that his son was among those who were being taken out of the burning building.
He became martyred first, then father.
Yasin, who was expecting to be a father, had told his friends, “My son’s name will be Yasin Bahadır.” His son, who was born after his father’s martyrdom, was named after him. Yasin’s father stated the following after his grandson was born on August 20th, “The baby is healthy. He is now 8 days old. He is the first born of my son. My son was 32 years old. We took him to Yasin, before we took him home. I first took the baby to the cemetery, where his father was buried.”
