Nearly 300 Chinese citizens evacuated from Israel while final 2 batches of evacuation will organize on June, 23 and 25 respectively, said Chinese embassy
China announced Sunday it will continue evacuating its nationals from Israel amid fear of further escalation in the region after the US carried out strikes against Iran.
The Chinese Embassy in Israel said the conflict between Israel and Iran is escalating, with missile strikes covering a wider area and the number of casualties continuing to rise, Global Times reported.
"The clearance process at land border crossings is slow, and the situation for connecting flights out of the country is becoming increasingly tense," it said.
Nearly 300 Chinese citizens have been evacuated in three batches via Egypt and most have returned to China, according to the embassy,
The embassy will organize the final two batches of evacuations via the Be'er (Taba) crossing on June 23 and 25, respectively, it said.
The situation in the region further deteriorated after US President Donald Trump announced Sunday that American forces carried out "very successful" airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, amid growing fears of a broader conflict in the region.
Hostilities broke out June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on several sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.
Meanwhile, in Iran, 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to the Iranian Health Ministry.
