Syrian Defense Ministry reports no casualties, vows zero tolerance for attacks on military or civilians
Groups affiliated with remnants of Syria’s ousted Assad regime attacked a military vehicle belonging to the army in the western city of Latakia.
The Syrian Defense Ministry reported no casualties and said that attacks by remnants of the former regime have escalated over the past 72 hours, targeting army forces in the Latakia and Tartous countryside.
The ministry said it remains committed to protecting all components of the Syrian people and maintaining civil peace, warning against the remnants of the former regime attempting to destabilize security and stability on the Syrian coast.
“We affirm that we will not tolerate any attacks targeting army forces or civilians,” it added.
Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia in December, ending the Baath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963.
A new transitional administration led by Ahmed Al-Sharaa was formed in January.
