Top 32 archers to compete at Samsun 2018 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final between 29-30 September
Mete Gazoz, the record-breaking 19-year-old Turkish archer, aims to finish the season with another gold medal at Samsun 2018 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.
"There is only one remaining competition at this season which is the world cup at Turkey's Samsun. l want to end the year with a gold medal," Gazoz told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.
"l won gold medals at World Cup, European Championships and the Mediterranean Games. This year was a better year for me comparing with the last year," he said.
He expressed hope that Turkish archery team in mixed category would be strong enough to bag gold in 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Gazoz had also represented Turkey at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
In August, he broke a record in the Polish city of Legnica by scoring 686 points to lead the recurve men’s qualification at the 2018 European Archery Championships.
Also, Gazoz and Gulnaz Busranur Coskun scored 1,333 points in the Recurve Junior category to claim the world record in mixed team at the European Grand Prix in Sofia.
Top 32 archers including Demir Elmaagacli, Fatih Bozlar and Mete Gazoz in men's categories and Yasemin Ecem Anagoz, Yesim Bostan and Gizem Elmaagacli in women's categories will compete in the World Cup Final in Samsun on Sept. 29-30.
