Brazil midfielder prays for children who struggle to survive in tiny Gaza
Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo said he has prayed for Palestinians living in the blockaded seaside enclave, which has been hit by ongoing Israeli strikes.
'What people have experienced in Gaza is very painful. I am a father and I have children, too. Children are dying there. My prayers are always with them,' said Melo, speaking to reporters during pre-season training in Australia.
'I have prayed for people, who have suffered from the Israeli offensive, whenever they came to my mind. I will continue to pray for them,' he added.
The Brazilian midfielder refused to comment on the semi-final in which Brazil was knocked out of the World Cup 2014 by Germany in a 7-1 defeat.
'This score has humiliated me as it has every Brazilian. I do not want to comment on the Brazilian squad. I am sorry for my friends and my country,' said Melo.
