Ligue 1's favourite teams PSG, Lille and Olympique Lyon start new season with victories
Reigning champion Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyon and Lille each started the 2019/2020 French Ligue 1 campaign with victories over the weekend.
In the opening match of the season, Olympique Lyon beat Monaco 3-0 for an easy victory.
Moussa Dembele gave an early lead to his team in 5th minute. Memphis Depay doubled his team’s lead nine minutes before the half time ended.
Louse Tousart found the net in the 80th minute and Lyon won the game 3-0.
Olympique Lyon finished third in Ligue 1 last season and earned their ticket to participate in the UEFA Champions League.
Monaco did not meet expectations in the previous season and they narrowly avoided relegation by finishing the league at 17th spot.
Last year's champion Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) started the league with a victory over Nimes 3-0 at the Stade de France on Sunday.
PSG lifted six Ligue 1 titles in the last seven seasons while they are regarded as the most favorite team of this season.
Last season’s runners-up Lille hosted Nantes and won the game 2-1 on Sunday. Turkish international right-wing Zeki Celik made an assist for Victor Osimhen’s goal in the 80th minute which brought the victory to his team.
Lille’s new transfer Turkish midfielder Yusuf Yazici made his debut for his team as he was substituted for Timothy Weah in the 68th minute of the game.
The French club transferred Yusuf Yazici from Trabzonspor for €16.5 million ($18.4 million) in summer transfer window.
