European football’s world governing body UEFA faults Galatasaray for not complying with financial fair play terms
European football's world governing body UEFA has imposed a one-year ban on Turkish football club Galatasaray for not complying with financial fair play terms, an official with the Istanbul-based club said Wednesday.
“We have been banned from participating in the UEFA competitions for a year,” Galatasaray Vice President Esref Alacayir told Anadolu Agency.
The UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) adjudicatory chamber made the ruling over the Turkish club.
In January 2016, the chamber decided to refer Galatasaray “for necessary actions to be taken as the club has failed to comply with the break-even requirement during the monitoring period assessed in the 2015/16 season”.
