Volkan Pilavcı, who went to the Presidential Palace shouting, “Get up! Ankara get up!” Was martyred from the crossfire by the traitors. He had told the people around him that he saw himself die in his dream that very same morning.
Volkan went outside at midnight, upon the call of President Erdoğan, after hearing about the incidents that occurred on the night of July 15th. He shouted, “Get up! Ankara, get up!” while leaving his house. Arriving at the Presidential Complex, he was wounded from the gunfire opened by the putschists. Shot in his right kidney, he was taken to the hospital and later he was martyred due to two bullets which couldn’t be removed from his body.
Married with two children, 36 year old Volkan was buried in Karakeçili, Kırıkkale. His funeral, which ten thousands of people attended, was held at a stadium in the district by County Mufti Kemal Cengiz.
The martyr’s name was given to a kindergarten in his hometown Kırıkkale.
