Ukraine's Ground Forces says special commission formed to investigate circumstances of attack
Ukraine said on Sunday that at least three of its servicemen were killed and 11 more injured in a Russian missile strike on a military training ground.
“As of 5:27 p.m. (1427GMT), three people were reported dead and 11 injured,” said a statement by Ukraine's Ground Forces on Telegram, noting that the attack targeted a training ground of one of its mechanized brigades.
However, the statement did not specify where the training ground is located.
It said the loss of numerous personnel was avoided because of safety measures implemented promptly after receiving an air raid alert.
All those injured during the strike are receiving all necessary medical care, it added.
“A special commission has been created ... to clarify all the circumstances of the incident in detail. Law enforcement agencies are also working at the scene,” the statement went on to say.
It added that additional security measures are being taken to preserve the lives and health of Ukrainian servicemen in the event of repeated strikes.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on Ukraine's statement, and independent verification is difficult due to the ongoing conflict.
