'We stand by our ally Turkey in its fight against terror,' says US Embassy in Ankara

The U.S. Embassy in Turkey on Thursday condemned an attack by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terror organization that martyred seven Turkish soldiers in the southeastern Batman province.

"We condemn the brutal attack that occurred in Batman today and convey our condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives. PKK terrorists must stop their attacks. We stand by our ally Turkey in its fight against terror," the U.S. Embassy in Ankara tweeted.

Seven Turkish soldiers were martyred and three others wounded in a PKK terror attack on Thursday in southeastern Batman province.

The terrorists detonated an improvised explosive planted in the road when an armored military vehicle was passing through the rural area of Gercus district.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
