Latest Spanish Super Cup winners Atletico Madrid's Argentine manager Diego Simeone was banned for eight games for his conduct after being sent off by the referee during Spanish Super Cup's second leg against rivals Real Madrid last Friday, which "Atleti" won 1-0.
Simeone was banned for 2 games for arguing with referee, 2 games for applauding referee over decision and refusing to leave completely after being sent to stands, and another 4 games ban after hitting the fourth referee over the head, the Spanish Football Federation announced Monday.
Atletico Madrid is expected to appeal the decision.
Despite the ban being due to a cup match, Simeone will serve his penalty in Spanish La Liga matches since he was banned more than 4 games, as stipulated by the federation.
