Cambodia says Thai jet shot down, Bangkok rejects

Cambodia on Thursday sought UN intervention over Thailand's "military aggression."

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet formally requested the UN Security Council to promptly address what he described as a “premeditated military aggression," according to the Khmer Times.

“It is profoundly reprehensible that this act of aggression occurs while Cambodia is actively pursuing peaceful and impartial legal avenues to resolve outstanding border issues,” Hun Manet said.

Citing sources, the media outlet said Cambodia shot down a Thai F-16 fighter jet.

Thailand, on the other hand, earlier said all six F-16s returned home safely.

So far, nine people from Thailand have been killed in clashes that flared up early Thursday, after downgrading of diplomatic relations on Wednesday.
