With EHSIM's new expendable decoy and jammer node systems SIS and JINN, Turkish aerial platforms to be safer from enemy aircraft and missiles, according to firm's CEO

Turkish engineering firm Electronic Warfare Systems Engineering (EHSIM) has developed state-of-the-art electronic warfare systems that will be integrated into Türkiye's new fifth generation fighter jet KAAN, the company's CEO told Anadolu.

Fatih Say said the firm produced expendable decoy and jammer node systems that will confuse radar systems and keep the fighter jets safe from enemy aircraft and air defense systems.

"We've been developing and integrating solutions we call Counter Measure Dispensing Systems (CMDS) for the protection of airborne platforms for many years, and we've even exported them along with Türkiye's national platforms," Say said at the IDEF 2025 defense fair in Istanbul.

He said the tests of these products have now been completed and mass production has begun.

Explaining that they are also developing these products for KAAN, Say said electronic warfare is a technology that is constantly changing.

"When KAAN is released, it will come out with the next-generation RF Active Expandable Decoy (SIS) system, and we will equip KAAN with brand new features and more advanced electronic warfare techniques," he noted.

Say said the SIS system is essentially a decoy system that displays the desired decoy target set in the air, which is a completely autonomous measure, and decided instantly according to the current operation's situation.

"While one of our F-16s is flying in the air, we can make it appear as if there are 10 or 20 F-16s, and the missile suddenly sees 20 threats and moves to different positions," Say explained.

Once the enemy missile deviates from its target, it loses its thrust, which essentially makes it self-destruct.

"Nowadays, missiles are evolving and they're becoming smarter. We set out to make these solutions more rational and incorporate intelligence into the process," Say said.

He said they developed a technology currently possessed by only four countries in the world, along with the Turkish Air Force and under the leadership of the Secretariat of Defense Industries over many years.

"We completed the tests, and by signing our production contract last year, we actually launched our mass production process," Say said.

Additionally, he said they have a new product launched at this fair called the Jammer Integrated Nullification Node (JINN), which sends false signals to multiple threats simultaneously, primarily designed to target drones.

"The enemy platform either can't respond to our aircraft or, since it mistakes it for a fake along with other threats and doesn't implement any countermeasures, we can say that we're actually making the air corridor safer for our aircraft," he said.

Say said that EHSIM is a company operating in the electronic warfare field for 27 years.

"We primarily develop electronic warfare solutions for air platforms. Electronic warfare is actually a field where engineering is at its most profound, where we engage with each other across the spectrum without any ammunition," he added.

KAAN, a 5th-generation fighter jet developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), made its maiden flight last year at 230 knots and 8,000 feet. Türkiye is now among the few nations with this advanced tech.

Last month, Türkiye signed a defense agreement with Indonesia, which included the export of 48 KAAN jets to the country.

EHSIM is participating in the 17th edition of the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, showcasing its newest and most prominent products in the electronic warfare field.

Being held simultaneously at the Istanbul Fair Center, Atatürk Airport, Wow Hotel and Atakoy Marina, the six-day fair opened on Tuesday.

The event, organized by KFA Fairs with support from Türkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, has Anadolu as its global communication partner.

This year's event hosts ministers, chiefs of staff, commanders and top representatives from 103 countries, with 44 countries opening stalls.

The event is also hosting more than 900 domestic and 400 foreign defense firms.
